• effectively explains the occurrence of flood basalts and impacts together.

• accounts for all phenomenon observed in an extinction event (crater, volcanism, climate changes, debris, gases, etc)

Cons for Verneshot Theory

• no data to support theory, purely a theoretical model so far.

• does not explain the Ir spike at the K/T boundary. Ir abundances are too low in the mantle to create the positive anomaly.

• hard to distinguish between a Verneshot projectile crater and a meteorite impact crater.

• largely only works for the K/T extinction. Does not support the other extinction events.
