Removing the Casing

An electric saw is used to remove the burlap and plaster casing and once removed then fine hand tools and air blasters are used to remove the remaining rock that is surrounding the fossil. This is the most time consuming and delicate work during the fossils journey to becoming a museum display, as it can take years for this section of the process to occur (Farlow et al, 1997).
