Two of
the larger land mammals of today are the elephants and the giraffe. Although
the seem immense to us today, they are still dwarfed by the size of Balucatherium.

can reach a height of up to 18 ft. high at the top of the head, and weigh up to
1 ton. Balucatherium would have been 18 ft. at the shoulders and have weighed
twenty times that of a giraffe.)
