Biostratigraphy
Peat Bog profile based on core data
The correlation of rock units of an area to
another using palynomorphs is called biostratigraphy. By finding the same
succession of layers, which contain specific pollen assemblages, over different
places, the relative age and depth of specific layers can be determined. This
method can be useful to guide drilling economical fossil deposits, such as
coal, oil and natural gas.
