PALEOBIOLOGY AND PALEOECOLOGY

Stegosaurs are one of the most popular dinosaurs today. The stegosaurs were large (estimated to weigh between 300kg and 6,500kg and spanning 3 to 9m) quadrapedal dinosaurs made famous by the parallel rows of plates and spins ( osteoderms, osteo - bone, derm - skin ) extruding from their backs, necks and tails. Stegosaurs had very small heads relative to the size of their body and simple teeth which would indicate that they were herbivores. Their feet are hoofed, the hind limbs are long and the front limbs are short giving them a forward sloping profile.
