T.rex's skull was connected to the first vertebra by the occipital condyle. Humans have a double condyle which restricts the motion of our heads. T.rex however, like modern birds T.rex only had a single condyle which with a long neck and powerful neck muscles allowed for T.rex to swivel and look behind as well as in front.
