THE BIGHORN IN THE EOCENE

[ BIGHORN IN EOCENE ]
The BigHorn Basin in the Eocene was a tropical jungle similar to the rainforests of Vietnam or Central America today. The mean annual temperature was between 20 - 25 degrees C. with little temperature variation.

The trees in these ancient forests included relatives of todays Laurels and Cashews. There fossilised remains can be found in the Willwood Formation.
