Phylogenic Conclusions
With all the different group and species names, it is easy
to get confused, so here is the lineage that has been mapped out in the
last series of pages:
The first terrestrial vertebrates (also refered to as
tetrapods or amphibians), have the following lineage:
-
Class of fish: Osteichthyes (bony fish)
-
Subclass: Sarcopterygians
-
includes groups: Dipnoi and Crossopterygians
-
Crossopterygian subgroup: Rhipidistia
The areas of argument in this lineage arise primarily
in the debate over Dipnoi or Crossopterygian descent, but today the above
is the generally accepted view.
