Organisms involved in Terrestrialization
Amphibians, the first terrestrial vertebrates, arose
from fish. There are many different types of fish, and there has
always been much debate over which fish terrestrial vertebrates actually
arose from.
By way of structural comparisons between amphibians and
specific classes of fish, the following could be discounted as possible
ancestors to amphibians:
-
Agnatha (jawless fish)
-
Acanthodii (jawed fish)
-
Placodermi (armoured jawed fish)
-
Chondrichthyes (fish with cartilage)
