A single obvious bias of this paper was that only the maximum sizes of the organisms were taken. The author stated that this was done in order to eliminate the possibility of including immature individuals in the study (Jablonski, 1997). He also tested the results again using the median sizes and they were not qualitatively different (Jablonski, 1997).
