Ottawa-Montreal Stratigraphy
This cross section is taken from Salad Hersi (1998) and depicts the "regional correlation of the Chazyan rocks from Ottawa region through Montreal area and to the Lake Champlain Valley. The base of the Hog's Back Formation and thicker carbonate strata to the east mark an episodic back-stepping of the shore line accompanied by a remarkable decrease in siliciclastic input (Rockliffe Formation and St. Thérèse Mb of the Laval Formation) from the Canadian Shield."
