There are two kinds of competitions:
- Intraspecific: competition among its members
- Interspecific: competition between different species
Interspecific competition is caused in two different ways:
- Exploitation: between individuals when the indirect effects of the two species reduce the supply of limiting resource needed for survival (exclusion happens when one species needs less of the resource).
- Interference: individual directly prevents physical establishments of another individual in a portion of habit.
