The Coconino Sandstone of the Early Permian is of eolian origin. Since
body fossls have not been reported in the Cocnino Sandstone,
invertebrate and vertebrate trace fossils remain the only evidence of
the organisms that lived in the Cocnino desert. Trace fossils have been
reported as scorpions, millipedes, and isopods. Tracks of tetrapod
vertebrates have also been found.
