Although the Oligocene saw mant species of Perissodactyl,
today they are few left. Those closely related to Balucatherium, the Rhinoceroses, are
battling against extinction from loss of habitat. Here is a short look at the remaining
five species of rhinoceroses left.
The White Rhinoceros
- 4,000-5,000 lbs (1,800-2,000 kg)
- 5-6 ft. high at the shoulders
- Largest land mammal after elephants
- Found in long and short grass savannahs
