Upright Posture

Velociraptor had a bipedal stance which gave it an upright posture. An upright posture is characteristic of active animals. A bipedal stance generally enables an organism to reach great speed for prolonged periods of time. Reptiles are said to have a sprawling stance which is due to their outwardly pointing elbows. Reptiles may attain great speeds but only for fairly short periods of time. (Desmond, 1975)
