Sediment Water Content

Tracks can be used to estimate the water content of the sediment when the dinosaur left its track.  The mechanical properties of sediment determine what kind of imprint can be made--e.g. depth, definition.  Therefore, by gathering data from the track and estimating the weight of the track-maker, the sediment's mechanical properties can be determined.  Sediment with height water content allows for a clear, deep impression to be made; whereas an impression in sediment with a low water content would be shallow, and vague.
