The formation of a bone bed similar to that of the wildebeats is shown in the picture. The current hypothesis of its formation is that a Centrosaurus herd may have tried to cross a river in flood but the rushing waters were too strong.  Many dinosaurs drowned. Their carcasses were washed onto a sand bar at a bed in the river where they remained when the flood water receded.
