STEGOSAUR EVOLUTION

Thyreophora (Latin for shield bearer) are known as the "Armored Dinosaurs" and they derived from the Genasauria in the lower Jurassic and basal forms include Scutellosaurus, Emansaurus and Scelidosaurus. These dinosaurs all have a transversely broad postorbital process of the jugal; and they all have parallel rows of keeled scutes on the body.
