HYBODONT


  • Arose 320 Ma and became extinct at the Cretaceous/ Tertiary boundary presumably with the dinosaurs
  • Evolved from the Cladoselache (similar shape)
  • Some species grew to a length of well over 2 m 
  • Sharp biting teeth at the front of the mouth and low crowned, molar-like teeth arranged in plates, at the back of the mouth  (Fenton and Fenton)
  • Large diversity in teeth type
  • Intermediate step between Cladoselache and Neoselachii
