About the Cat...
General
The sabre-tooth cat belongs to the Order of Carnivora. Members of this
order include dogs, hyenas, weasels, and the cats.
The sabre-tooth cat is found in the Family of Felidae, also known as
the true cats. Today there are three main types of sabre-tooths known:
the Smilodon, Homotherium, and the most recent discovery,
Xenosmilus (Benton 1990).
