On the Hunt
Prey
This ferocious carnivore of the past preyed on a variety of different
animals. Its victims included such animals as camels, horses, giant
bison, rhinoceros, and mammoths. The larger prey of the sabre-tooth cat, like the mammoth,
were probably not attacked as adults. It was most likely that the cat preyed on
young mammoths due to the adult's great size and weight (www.lam.mus.ca.us/cats/C24/index.htm).
