The many different species of plant fossils as well as the diversity among the fossils, which include, seeds, bark, leaves, branches, pollen, flowers and microfossils. The total accumulation of as many fossils as possibly help us create a better picture of what the environment was like. The plants indicate that the climate of Rancho La Brea was cooler and wetter, and less seasonal than what is presently found in Los Angeles.
