More than 250 articulated specimens of large dinosaurs have been collected from park badlands of western North America (Dinosaur Provincial Park), and more continue to be excavated at a rate of about six per year. Half of these belonged to hadrosaurids, over a quarter to horned dinosaurs, and the remainder to armoured dinosaurs and to the carnivorous tyrannosaurids.
