Methods

All information that can be determined from fossil organisms is structural. Therefore, any attempt to understand how animals work and how they move must involve the inference of function from form and promote a better understanding of their interelationship. If form and function are related, a study of form or structure should allow predictions of biological function. Conversely, a study of organismal function should allow predictions of the design of the structures associated with those functions.
