Pseudopodia Functions

Much of the exterior of the test will be covered by a thin membrane to help add strength to the connections with the pseudopodia. Pseudopodia are multipurpose morphological features, much like vertebrate limbs, whose morphology will generally reflect their dominant function. They can be used by the foraminifera as a means of locomotion, pulling themselves across the substrate. They can be used for collection and capture of prey, waste elimination, test construction and maintenance, and even aid in digestion.
