1902: Deposits and Models

The first attempt at studying the deposits from the eruption was made by Lacroix in 1904. Valuable information came from his analysis but a more detailed description and interpretation came later in 1980 by Fisher, and in 1982 by Heiken.

Since the exact nature of the eruption is not known, models for the event have been proposed to explain the catastrophe.
