On May 20, a more intense eruption than that of May 8, occurred destroying what was left of St. Pierre. More activity occurred throughout May and June of 1902. This picture was taken in July 1902 when people came into St. Pierre to assess the amount of damage and to determine if the volcano would erupt again.
