The second is the a high overlap of species in a given resource and is used as an index of competition.  The idea here suggests that the fact that with such a number of species in the same area, the resource must be abundant enough and hence the competition is low. There is no competition because the species involved have ample resources that they do not have to compete for the same space.  They are, in effect, isolated from each other.
