HOMOLOGOUS STRUCTURES

There are two types of structures in this classification: homologous structures are similar in organisms that are closely related that evolved from a similar structure from an immediate common ancestor (Patterson 1997).

Homologous bones have same shading, from left to right: horse, man, whale, crocodile, and bird. (Patterson 1997)
