Triceratops -described by Marsh, 1889 (Dodson, 1996). Triceratops is the most famous of the Ceratopsians (Dodson, 1996). Triceratops, meaning "three horned face", is known as one of the last of the dinosaurs from the Late Cretaceous, and is exceptionally abundant (Dodson, 1996). It is particularly important because it is the first horned dinosaur to be described on the basis of a complete skull (Dodson, 1996). It has a long, low snout, and large post-orbital horns. Its short frill is lacking in fenestrae, but lined with epoccipitals (Lucas, 1994). Triceratops has the largest skull known, described to be about 2.2m in length (Dodson, 1996).
