Rhinoceroses of Today

 

Although the Oligocene saw mant species of Perissodactyl, today they are few left. Those closely related to Balucatherium, the Rhinoceroses, are battling against extinction from loss of habitat. Here is a short look at the remaining five species of rhinoceroses left.
 
 
 
 
 
 
The White Rhinoceros

- 4,000-5,000 lbs (1,800-2,000 kg)

- 5-6 ft. high at the shoulders

- Largest land mammal after elephants

- Found in long and short grass savannahs
