Large Land Mammals of Today

Two of the larger land mammals of today are the elephants and the giraffe. Although the seem immense to us today, they are still dwarfed by the size of Balucatherium.

(Right: Giraffes can reach a height of up to 18 ft. high at the top of the head, and weigh up to 1 ton. Balucatherium would have been 18 ft. at the shoulders and have weighed twenty times that of a giraffe.) on icons to navigate
