The Reef Front Terrace Biotope
Characterized by coral heads, predominantly large heads of Montastrea and Diploria as the framework builders with coralline algae and the attached red foraminifer Homotrema rubrum as the common encrusting forms. The biotope surrounds the Bermuda platform at depths of less than 10 to greater than 100 m.
Reef front terrace sediments are composed primarily of
material derived from the skeletal elements of the indigenous fauna.
