Three species of Udotea are found
in Bermuda. genus with thallus composed of a single stalk terminating or
gradually expanding into a flat, fan-like or funnel-shaped blade (flabellum);
usually erect and well anchored to the sediment.
Udotea cyanthiformis
Species to 15 cm high; flabellum funnel-shaped, to 5 cm in diameter; walls of funnel firm but occasionally splitting, composed of closely packed, parallel filaments.
Below low tide zone, growing and usually submerged in
sand or finer sediment; found throughout the year, but not common.
